A Day To Remember: 200 Youngsters Enjoy A Day Out At Codonas Amusement Park Thanks To All Life Chances Partnership

“Being able to support various local schools and charities is incredibly important to everyone involved and so we're incredibly proud to have played our part in giving them a memorable day out."

Gillian Callan, General Manager, Codonas

“Outings like these are so good for children and young people. They give them access to new experiences, help build their confidence and sense of independence, and create a real sense of inclusion and belonging.

“Most importantly, they offer a space where the youngsters can relax, laugh, and simply enjoy being themselves.”

Susan Crighton, Director of Community Engagement, All Life Chances

Overview

In a heartwarming example of community collaboration, 200 children and young people from across Aberdeen were treated to a day of thrills and laughter at Codonas Amusement Park - completely free of charge.

This impactful initiative, brought to life through a partnership between Codonas and All Life Chances, offered a rare opportunity for many children to enjoy a memorable day out, meet new friends, and experience the magic of play in a safe, supportive environment.

The Experience

Thanks to Codonas generous donation of free passes, each young person enjoyed unlimited access to the park’s top attractions:

  • Outdoor rides and adventure golf

  • Indoor dodgems

  • Go-karting

  • Laser Tag

  • A sweet treat – candy floss or a slushy – for every attendee

What made the day even more special was the clear sense of freedom, fun, and friendship everywhere.

Who Was Involved?

Children aged 8 to 16 from across Northfield, Middlefield, Tillydrone, and Woodside, came together for this one-of-a-kind experience. The trip was coordinated with support from:

  • Manor Park Primary School

  • St Machar Academy

  • Northfield Academy

  • Printfield Community Project

  • Middlefield Community Project @ the Hub

  • ALC Aberdeen

Each of these groups played a vital role in ensuring the day was accessible, inclusive, and joyful for all.

The Spark Behind the Idea

This initiative was born from a conversation between Codonas and All Life Chances. Together, we identified a shared goal: to treat children - who wouldn't get the chance - to an unforgettable day of thrills, fun and laughter at Codonas.

The Impact

  • Creating Lasting Memories: For many attendees, this was a first-time visit to an amusement park. The day offered excitement, adventure, and lasting joy.

  • Fostering Social Connections: Children from different schools and neighbourhoods bonded over shared experiences, helping to break down social barriers and encourage new friendships.

  • Strengthening Community Collaboration: The project is a shining example of what’s possible when the private and third sectors unite for a common purpose.

A Model for Positive Change

This initiative proves that even one day can leave a lifelong impression. It demonstrates the power of partnership, the importance of community, and the incredible things that happen when local businesses and charities come together.
