Christmas Community Activities at Northfield
Christmas Community Activities at Northfield
“Christmas should be a time of joy, connection, and calm for families. Creating welcoming spaces where children can play, relax, and try new things together helps build confidence and positive memories that last well beyond the festive season.”
Lara Munro, Director of Operations, All Life Chances
“The sessions and all the activities have been brilliant, we would absolutely come along again if it were to happen. We’ve had so much fun together at a time that can be stressful as there’s nothing on to do, and money is really tight.”

Background
During the 2025 Christmas period, All Life Chances delivered a festive programme of community activities in partnership with Northfield Community Centre, offering a welcoming and inclusive space for children, young people, and families to come together.
The programme was designed to provide fun, creative, and calming experiences during a time of year that can be financially and emotionally challenging for many families. By working alongside trusted local partners, we were able to offer a full day of activities that supported wellbeing, creativity, and connection.
Support provided
Thanks to the support of Northfield Community Centre and a range of local activity providers, families were able to enjoy:
🦎 Animal encounters with The Critter Keeper, giving children the chance to meet and learn about a variety of animals.
🎨 Creative craft workshops led by Fireflies Nurture and Thrive, encouraging self-expression and creativity.
🖌️ Festive face painting and glitter bar, delivered by Eventsize, adding colour and fun to the celebrations.
🧘 Calming yoga sessions with Yoga with Kristy, offering children and parents time to relax and reset
💆 Pamper and wellbeing sessions from the Rose Garden made sure that everyone was looking and feeling like their best self
🍽️ A nutritious lunch, kindly provided by Byron Baker, ensuring everyone was energised throughout the day.
The celebrations continued with games and shared activities, creating a relaxed and joyful atmosphere where families could spend quality time together.
Support required
For many families, the cost of activities, food, and travel during school holidays can be a significant barrier. Continued support is needed to:
🎄Fund inclusive holiday activity programmes.
🍽️ Provide meals so families can enjoy full-day activities without added cost .
🎨 Offer creative, physical, and wellbeing-focused sessions that support children’s development.
Impact
🌟Joy & Wellbeing: Children experienced excitement, creativity, and relaxation during the festive period
👥Family Connection: Parents and children spent meaningful time together in a supportive environment
🎄Festive Inclusion: Families were able to take part in Christmas activities without financial pressure
⭐Confidence & Engagement: Children were encouraged to try new activities and build social confidence.
Future plans
🎯 Continue delivering inclusive holiday programmes in partnership with community venues
🎯 Expand the range of creative, physical, and wellbeing activities available to families
🎯 Secure funding to ensure meals and activities remain accessible to those who need them most.
Working in partnership
This programme highlights the importance of strong local partnerships. By working closely with Northfield Community Centre and trusted activity providers, we were able to deliver a high-quality, supportive experience for families when it mattered most.
