Easter Activities in Northfield

“The kids had an amazing time, especially at the bowling and soft play. It really helped having something free to go to during the holidays—it made a big difference for us."

Parent

“School holidays should be a time for fun, connection, and new experiences. By creating free, inclusive opportunities for children and families, we help reduce pressure on households while giving young people the chance to play, explore, and build lasting memories.”

Lara Munro, Director of Operations, All Life Chances

Background

During the 2026 Easter break, All Life Chances delivered a programme of free activities and outings for children, young people, and families across the community. Working in partnership with Codona’s, Seaton Primary School, Tillydrone Community Campus, and Printfield Community Project, the initiative aimed to provide accessible, engaging experiences during the school holidays.

The programme recognised that holiday periods can be challenging for families, particularly with increased costs and limited access to affordable activities. By offering a mix of excursions and community-based sessions, All Life Chances created opportunities for fun, social connection, and active play in a safe and supportive environment.

Support provided

Through strong local partnerships, children and families were able to access a wide range of activities free of charge, including:

  • Bowling sessions at Codona’s, bringing families together for fun, active play

  • Mini golf and Smugglers Cove experiences, encouraging social interaction and confidence-building

  • Arcadia gaming sessions, offering engaging and inclusive entertainment for all ages

  • Easter-themed community event at Northfield Community Centre, featuring:

  • Bouncy castle and soft play

  • Easter arts and crafts

  • Face painting

  • Sensory play

  • Balloon modelling workshop

  • Food and refreshments for all attendees.

In addition, All Life Chances provided Northfield Community Centre with resources, materials, food, and volunteer support to help deliver their own Easter programme, further extending the reach and impact of the initiative.

Support required

To continue delivering and expanding programmes like this, ongoing support is essential to:

  • Fund free holiday activity programmes for children and families

  • Provide food and refreshments to reduce financial pressure on households

  • Supply materials, resources, and staffing for creative and inclusive sessions

  • Strengthen partnerships with community organisations to reach more families.

Impact

Access & Inclusion: Over 130 children, young people, and family members accessed free activities during the Easter break.

  • Family Support: Families were able to spend quality time together without the burden of additional costs

  • Engagement: High attendance across activities, including fully booked and near-capacity sessions at Codona’s and Northfield Community Centre

  • Wellbeing & Enjoyment: Children experienced joy, play, and social connection in a safe and welcoming environment

  • Community Reach: Support extended beyond direct delivery through resources and volunteer input to partner organisations.

Future plans

  • Continue delivering free, inclusive holiday programmes across multiple community locations

  • Expand partnerships to increase the number and variety of activities available

  • Secure funding to maintain free access to trips, food, and community events

  • Build on successful collaborations to reach even more children and families.

Working in partnership

This Easter programme demonstrates the value of collaboration. By working with Codona’s, local schools, community campuses, and Northfield Community Centre, All Life Chances was able to deliver a diverse and impactful range of activities.

These partnerships ensure that support reaches families where it is needed most, creating opportunities for connection, enjoyment, and positive experiences during the school holidays.
