Supporting children and young people in Tillydrone
Supporting children and young people in Tillydrone
“ALC has been supporting children, young people and their families for more than 100 years, helping them lead happy, healthy lives.”
Angie Johnston, Charity Manager, ALC
“The ALC team provided us with life lessons and gave us confidence. I think that’s why we’re happier now; they led us in the right direction and helped us to be the people we are today. They make you into a person that believes in yourself.”
Chelsea Davie, ALC service user
Background
Based in Tillydrone, Aberdeen, ALC provides a range of childcare, youth engagement and family support services, while also offering external room hire at its Dill Road facility.
This provision includes two early years’ nurseries, an after-school club, junior and senior youth clubs and holiday clubs.
By providing safe, fun and educational spaces where people feel supported, inspired and encouraged, ALC helps them realise their full potential.
Additionally, by focusing on their physical, social and emotional wellbeing, the charity gives them every opportunity to create a better future for themselves and their communities.
Support required
ALC’s Dill Road facility had benefitted from a major refurbishment programme. After reopening in 2024, key areas requiring funding and assistance included:
🏠 Equipping all rooms, including the games hall, meeting spaces, and activity rooms
🎨 Rebranding support, ensuring a modern identity that better reflects the charity’s mission
📈 Strategic development, including business planning, marketing, and partnership building
Support provided
The All Life Chances team collaborated with ALC to provide comprehensive support, including:
✔ Developing a strategic business plan to ensure long-term sustainability
✔ Creating a tactical marketing and fundraising campaign
✔ Securing funds to fully equip rooms, thanks to support from Aberdeen City Council, trusts, foundations, and corporate partners
✔ Facilitating introductions to other charities and voluntary organisations, fostering stronger community partnerships
The charity’s new branding was also successfully launched, modernising its identity and aligning it with its vision for the future.
