Santa's Grotto returns to Bon Accord in support of local children and young people

Christmas has come early for Aberdeen charity All Life Chances after being selected as Bon Accord’s charity partner to run Santa's Grotto at Bon Accord this Christmas.

From 14 November up to Christmas Eve, Santa and his team of elves will take up residence in the grotto on the ground floor of the shopping centre, helping families to create magical Christmas memories.

The partnership represents a significant fundraising and awareness opportunity for the charity, with proceeds helping to fund programmes that support children, young people and families in some of the city’s most disadvantaged communities.

All Life Chances director of community engagement, Susan Crighton said: “We are honoured to have been selected to partner with Bon Accord to deliver Santa’s Grotto this year.
“Our Christmas wish is to make the grotto more than just a visit to Santa. We want every family who joins us to enjoy a magical, memorable experience while knowing they are helping to make a real difference in their local community.

“At All Life Chances, we are committed to creating opportunities for children, young people and their families through partnerships with existing community groups, schools, companies and charities to assist with access to funding, build mutually beneficial partnerships, and develop and deliver projects that help build confidence, resilience and hope for the future.

“We are extremely grateful to our supporters and sponsors, including Brewin Dolphin, Hampton and Fowler McKenzie for their generosity in bringing Santa’s Grotto to life.  We are still seeking additional sponsors and encourage any organisation interested in supporting their community this Christmas to get in touch.”

Brian Torrie, from the Bon Accord management team commented: "We're delighted to welcome All Life Chances as our Santa's Grotto charity partner. The Bon Accord Santa experience is a much-loved, popular festive tradition for families in Aberdeen, and we're pleased that visitors will be helping to support such an important local cause while creating special Christmas memories.”

The grotto will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 14 November to 20 December, before opening daily right up to and including Christmas Eve.

Donna Deans, Fundraising Manager at All Life Chances, said: "Visitors can expect a warm festive welcome from our team of volunteer elves who help bring the magic of Christmas to life.

“From greeting families and helping Santa prepare gifts to capturing special festive photos, our volunteers play an important role in creating a memorable experience for every visitor.

“Every ticket purchased will support children, young people and families across Aberdeen while helping create treasured Christmas memories. We can’t wait to welcome our special visitors from across the city and beyond this festive season.”

Families are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
